చిత్రగుప్తుడు ఎవరు?

పురాణాల (ముఖ్యంగా పద్మ పురాణం, మార్కండేయ పురాణం, గరుడ పురాణం మొదలైనవి) ప్రకారం, చిత్రగుప్తుడు బ్రహ్మ దేవుని మానసపుత్రుడు (మనస్సు నుంచి ఉద్భవించిన కుమారుడు). బ్రహ్మ శరీరం/మనస్సు నుంచి అతన్ని సృష్టించి, యమధర్మరాజు దగ్గర పాప-పుణ్యాల లెక్కలు రాయడానికి నియమించాడు.
