Sai Leela

💐II 🕉 Sairam II💐
LEELA

*Baba comes in the form of a photograph to stay in the Tarkad home.*

In the Shri Sai SatcharitaChapter 9, the story of Ramchandra Tarkad and his son Jyotindra is given. How Jyotindra extracted a promise from his father, to worship Baba’s photograph in the sandalwood shrine daily. Jyotindra, followed a routine rather strictly. He got up every day at 5.am had a bath, and then did puja. He applied sandalwood paste to Baba’s photograph. Then lighted incense, and offered naivedya of sugar candy as prasad. Thus he was reluctant to accompany his mother to Shirdi, as he did not want a break in this routine.

Ramchandra assured him again and again that he would perform puja daily and offernaivedya to Baba, and then have his lunch. Only after Jyotindra was fully convinced of his fathers promise did he accompany his mother. But one day his father forgot, to offer naivedya. There at Shirdi Baba said,  “What to do O! Mother? Today as every day I went to your home in Bandra, but there was no rice, no gruel, nothing to eat or drink. And hungry I have to return”. (Shri SaiSatcharita Chapter 9, Ovi 107)

How Baba came to the Tarkad House in the form of a photograph?

In Shri Sai Satcharita, Chapter 40 Baba goes to Dabolkar’s home in the form of a brass relief. In this leela Baba goes to the Tarkad house in the form of photograph. One day early in the morning Jyotindra and his father had an identical dream. They both saw a beautiful sandalwooddevera (shrine) and Baba sitting in it. They immediately got up and made a sketch of it. When they met for breakfast, they spoke of their dream. They were astonished to find that their dream was identical, and the sketch that each had drawn was the same.

They decided to have such adevera, as soon as possible. They set out and bought  lot of sandalwood. Then brought a carpenter and showed him the sketches, and commissioned him to make the shrine. Their residence at Bandra had a small terrace, and there the carving of the shrine started.

It took about a year to complete it. After completion the devera stood 9 feet tall and 2.5 inches x 2.5 inches in length and breadth so  it was a master piece. Now they wanted a beautiful photograph of Baba. They knew that Baba did not allow himself to be photographed, so what was to be done?

One Friday evening father and son were strolling in Chor Bazar, when a shopkeeper was gesticulating at them to come to his shop. Then the shopkeeper ran after them and said he had a packet for them. Jyotindra and his father entered the shop rather sceptically.

Then the wonderful leelastarted unfolding. They questioned the shopkeeper about the parcel. The shopkeeper said “A few days ago, a saintly looking, elderly gentleman came to my shop. He said on Friday a Hindu father and son will pass this way. You can easily recognize them as the father will have on a hat, and the son will have a black Gandhi cap. He then handed me this packet and also gave me Rs 50/- as service charges. Please accept this packet.” They still were sceptical so they asked the shopkeeper to open it. What they saw left them speechless. It was a beautiful photograph of Baba sitting on the stone.

They thanked him and offered him some money for the trouble he had taken; he refused to accept the money. Jyotindra and his father returned home. They placed the photograph in the devera, and it fit perfectly.

On there next visit to Shirdi they went to the Dwaraka Mai. At that time a local devotee was trying to get a photograph of Baba. When Baba said “अरे फोटो फोटो काय करतोस माझ्या भाऊंच्या घरी जाऊन पहा मी तिथे जिवंत बसलेला आहे  ”

“Arre photo photo kay kartos, Maje bhaucha ghari jaun paha me jeevanth baslela aahye (Roughly translated -Go to my Bhau’s house and see. I am alive and sitting there) Jyotindra got up at once and held his feet. Mentally he prayed for one and only one boon and that was to never ever forget Baba.

You have done sadhana

OM SAI RAM
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Spiritual striving (sadhana) will reveal the true identity of the Omnipresent Divine Self. But be careful; Sadhana can foster even pride and envy as a byproduct of progress. You calculate how much or how long you have done Sadhana and are tempted to look down on another, whose record is less. You are proud that you have recited or written the name of Lord ten million times; you talk about it whenever you get the chance so that others may admire your faith and fortitude. But it is not the millions that count; what matters is the purity of mind that results from genuine concentration on the Name. Your Sadhana must not be like carrying water in a cane basket! You get no water however often or long you walk. Each vice is a hole in the cane basket. Keep the heart pure and whole. You must also carefully cleanse from your heart malice, greed, hate and anger. [Divine Discourse, Jan 13, 1969]

Life must be spent in accumulating and safeguarding

OM SAI RAM
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Life must be spent in accumulating and safeguarding virtue, not riches. Listen and ruminate over the stories of the great moral heroes of the past, so that their ideals may be imprinted on your hearts. Nowadays, virtue is becoming rare in the individual, family, society and community, as well as in all fields, be it economic, political and even 'spiritual’. So also, there is a decline in discipline, which is the soil on which virtue grows. Respect one and all. Unless each one is respected, whatever be their status, economic condition, or spiritual development, there can be no peace and happiness in life. This respect can be aroused only by the conviction that the same atma (Self) that is in you is playing the role of the other person. See that atma in others, feel that they too have hunger, thirst, yearning and desires as you have; develop sympathy and the anxiety to serve and be useful. (Divine Discourse, Feb 22, 1968)

Baba's Leela...
Sadguru Sainath Maharaj Ki Jai

Once devotees had invited Dasganu  for kirtan. As Soon as he started kirtan a huge crowd gathered to hear. An hour later abt 8 to 10 bhils walked in. They were carrying a bier and were going to the cemetery.

The leader demanded to stop all this noise and asked to pointing Baba's photo "who is this?". Dasganu gave glorious account of the shirdi sai Baba.
"My Baba is the living God of Gods". You have to only witness his power, compassion and love only then will you believe.

The leader then challenged Dasganu saying Our relative has just died.If your  Baba is so great he will bring him back to life. At that time Jyotindra Tarkand was also there with Dasganu. Without hesitation Jyotindra Tarkand said,"Maharaj let us seek refuge in Baba."

You just sing "Sai reham nazar karna baccho ka palan karna". This is the arati written by Dasganu ji and sung during Kakad Arati. About hour later Baba's leela started unfolding. The dead person was moving and broke the strings. Then he sat and participated in kirtan.Baba had saved their lives by bringing the dead person back to life.

The bhils then promised him to go Shirdi for sai baba's darshan.

Man walks with two legs: iha and para (this world and the other),

OM SAI RAM
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Man walks with two legs: iha and para (this world and the other), dharma and Brahman, righteousness and God! If one is totally engrossed in this world, the person is choosing to travel all through one’s life with a handicap, hopping on one leg. That is fraught with trouble; the person may fall any moment and break the shin. And one does! Goodness in this world and Godliness for the life after death - equal attention needs to be given to both. One must be vigilant while taking a step, whichever foot it may be. Both are essential for a happy journey through life. You have to put the right foot, the Brahman step, when you enter the region of realisation. By then the senses have to be conquered. Go means senses and Go-pi means a person who has subdued the senses, as a result of surrender to Go-pala, the master of the senses. Krishna once told Arjuna that he can enter Vrajamandala (the region where the Gopis lived), only after mastering his emotions and impulses, and his tendency to yield to the senses. [Divine Discourse, Jan 13, 1968]

Some people, afraid of cynical criticism by unbelievers

OM SAI RAM
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Some people, afraid of cynical criticism by unbelievers, are reluctant to walk the streets in groups singing the glory of God during early morning hours! When you have the very Embodiment of Fearlessness installed in your heart, why should the slightest tremor of fear affect you? You came into this world alone, with no companion, isn't it? During the years of life, you gathered wife and children, kith and kin, and friends and acquaintances who attached themselves to you. When you return to the realm from which you came, you enter it alone with no one to keep company. So too let the journey with Nagarasankirtan be. Come into the street alone, collect kith and kin if they come unto you, move with them unconcerned and unaffected, revel in your own sweet solitariness, and finally enter your home with the satisfaction that your job is well done. Fellows may laugh at you as insane but this insanity is infectious and very soon, even the irreverent will be initiated into the fold. [Divine Discourse, Jan 13, 1970]

There is only one royal road for the spiritual journey - Love, love for all beings

OM SAI RAM
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

There is only one royal road for the spiritual journey - Love, love for all beings as manifestation of the same Divinity that is the very core of oneself. This faith alone ensures the constant presence of God with you, and endows you with all the joy and courage you need to fulfill your life’s pilgrimage to God. When the reservoir is full of water and you turn on the taps, then the buckets will be filled. Cultivate love and devotion, then your activities will be saturated with compassion and charity, and yield the golden harvest of joy and peace. Love must be unselfish and universal. You judge for yourself whether your love is narrow or broad, and whether your devotion is shallow or deep. Are you content with your achievement? Examine it yourself and pronounce the verdict on yourself, using your own discrimination. [Divine Discourse, Jan 13, 1970]

OM SAI RAM
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Despite the many Navaratris and Shivaratris (auspicious festivals) you attend at holy places, unless you illumine your heart and make it shine clear and pure, it will be shrouded in darkness, immersed in ratri (night) only. You may say that progress is possible only through My Grace, but though My heart is soft as butter, it melts only when there is some warmth in your prayer. Unless you make some disciplined effort and do some sadhana (spiritual activities), grace cannot descend on you. The yearning and the agony of unfulfilled aim melts My heart. That anguish (aavedana) wins grace. Sadhana must make you calm, unruffled, poised, and balanced. Your mind must be cool and comforting as moonlight, for Moon is the deity holding sway over mind. Be calm in speech, and in your responses to malice, cavilling and praise. [Divine Discourse, 13 Jan, 1969]

Learn lesson from tree 🌲

OM SAI RAM
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Learn a lesson from the tree. When it is heavy with fruits it does not raise its head aloft in pride, it bends low, stoops, as if it does not take any credit for its accomplishment and as if it is helping you to pluck the fruit. Similarly, learn a lesson from the birds. They feed those who cannot fly far. The bird relieves the itch of the buffalo by scratching it with its beak; they help and serve each other, with no thought of reward. How much more alert must you be, than the birds and trees with your superior skills and faculties? Remember, service is the best cure for egoism, and so you must engage in it to relieve pain and grief to the extent you can. Try to assuage, as far as you can, the distress of others; when done sincerely, it is the best spiritual practice for a true spiritual aspirant. [Divine Discourse, Jan 13, 1968]

Sai BaBa Leela

💐II 🕉 Sairam II💐 LEELA

*Baba asks Nana Sahib Dengle what the birds are saying.*

In Shri Sai Satcharitachapter 15 a lizard chirps excitedly and happily, awaiting the arrival of her sister from Aurangabad. It happens that a lizard comes, with a devotee from Aurangabad in the mouth bag of his horse, and runs and meets her sister. Baba answers the devotee when questioned about the chirping of the lizard “The lizard is overcome with joy that her sister is coming here to meet her from Aurangabad”. Be it the chirping of a lizard or the twittering of birds Baba knew and heard every thing.

*Baba goes to Nana Sahib’s Home.*

Nana Sahib Dingle was a an ardent devotee of Baba. He loved Baba intensely and Baba would go to his home in Nigoj off and on. They would sit under the Neem tree, and chat for some time. Then Baba would return to Shirdi taking the main road, after that walk through the village and go to Dwaraka Mai.

One day Baba in great haste went to Nigoj early in the morning. Dengle was pleasantly surprised to see him. He made Baba sit comfortably in the courtyard, and then joined him. A few hours latter some birds perched on a tree nearby started twittering excitedly. Nana fell silent and listened to them. Baba knew that Nana could understand bird language. Baba said “Nana what are the birds saying’.

Dingle was silent because he knew Baba’s power. Baba knew the past, present and future, let alone what the birds were saying. But because Baba asked him he replied “They say that nine people will die in Shirdi today” At once Baba hired a tongaand returned to Shirdi. At Shirdi the villagers were happily preparing prasad for Shani dev. They had a big handi [copper pot] ready. All the villagers had assembled there to partake of it.

*Baba asks Bhagoji Shinde to throw the prasad on the floor.*

Baba however went straight to the Dwaraka Mai and sent a messenger to fetch Bhagoji Shinde immediately. Bhagoji came at once and Baba said “Go to theShani Mandir at once and throw all the prasad on the floor”. Bhagoji was astounded to hear this but as Baba had commanded him, he did just that. Hurriedly he carried out the task and ran back to the Dwaraka Mai and took shelter at Baba’s feet.

As expected the villagers ran to the Dwaraka Mai and angrily complained to Baba of the sacrilegious act committed by Bhagoji. Baba calmly said “I ordered him to do so now go and see what is in the prasad.” Confused they ran to the scene and taking a big ladle they swirled theprasad around only to find a dead serpent in it. Trembling with fear they came to the Dwaraka Mai and prostrated before Baba. They thanked him for saving the whole village from utter calamity and death.

2018 Purnima  Days

Purnima Full Moon

Purnima fasting might be observed either on Purnima day or on one day before Purnima day i.e. on Chaturdashi day depending on starting time of Purnima Tithi on previous day.

It is believed that if Chaturdashi prevails beyond Madhyahna then it pollutes Purnima Tithi and this Chaturdashi day should not be considered for Purnima fasting even if Purnima prevails during evening.

13th November 2018 (Tuesday)-Soorasamharam

13th November 2018 (Tuesday)-Soorasamharam

Skanda Sashti, also known as Kanda Sashti, is the most important festival dedicated to Lord Murugan. Skanda Sashti is observed mainly by Tamil Hindus.

The day of Skanda Sashti is decided based on lunar month and it falls during sixth day of Karthika Masam.

During Kanda Sashti, devotees observe six days fasting which starts from first day or Pirathamai of Karthika lunar month and ends on the sixth day which is known as Soorasamharam day.

Soorasamharam is the final and the most important day of the six days festivities.

It is believed that Lord Murugan defeated Demon Surapadman on the very same day and the festival of Soorasamharam is observed every year to mark the victory of good over evil.

It is important to note that the day when Shasti Tithi conjugates with Panjami Tithi is chosen for Soorasamharam Vratam.

Hence most temples observe Kanda Sashti on Panjami Tithi if Shasti Tithi starts before sunset on Panjami Tithi.

Kanda Sashti celebrations at Thiruchendur Murugan Temple are the most famous one.

The six days celebrations which start from Pirathamai of Karthika Masam culminate on Soorasamharam day. Thiru Kalyanam is observed on the next day of Soorasamharam.

12th November 2018 (Monday)-Labh Panchami Date-

12th November 2018 (Monday)-Labh Panchami Date-

2018- Labh Panchami

Labh Panchami is known as Saubhagya Panchami and Labh Pancham in Gujarat. In some regions it is also known as Saubhagya-Labh Panchami. Saubhagya and Labh means good luck and benefit respectively. Hence this day is associated with benefit and good luck.

In Gujarat Diwali festivities culminate of the day of Labh Panchami and this day is considered highly auspicious. It is believed that Puja performed on the day of Labh Panchami brings benefit, comfort and good luck in the life, business and family of the worshipper.

In Gujarat most shop owners and businessmen restart their business activities on Labh Pancham after Diwali festivities. Hence in Gujarat, Labh Pancham is the first working day of Gujarati New Year. On this day businessmen inaugurate new account ledgers, known as Khatu in Gujarati, by writing Shubh on left, Labh on right and drawing a Sathiya in the center of the first page.

9th November 2018 (Friday)-Bhaiya Dooj, Yama Dwitiya- sai saranam

9th November 2018 (Friday)-Bhaiya Dooj, Yama Dwitiya-

Yama Dwitiya is observed on Dwitiya Tithi during Kartik month.

Most of the times, Yama Dwitiya falls two days after Diwali Puja.

Yamraj, the lord of death, is worshipped on Yama Dwitiya along with Chitragupta and Yama-Doots, the subordinates of Lord Yamraj.

The Aparahna is the most suitable time for Yama Dwitiya Puja.
Yamuna Snan is suggested in the morning before Yamraj Puja during Aparahna.
Arghya should be given to Lord Yama after Puja.

Apart from Yama Puja, the day is more popularly known as Bhai Dooj.
As per Yama Dwitiya legends, Goddess Yamuna fed her brother Yamraj on Kartik Dwitiya at her own home.

Since then this day is known as Yama Dwitiya.

It is believed that sisters who feed their brothers on this auspicious day would be forever Saubhagyavati and eating at sisters home bestows long life to brothers.

Hence, on Bhai Dooj, sisters cook sumptuous food for their brothers and feed them with their own hands.

Darwin vs Dashavthar..salute to mythology

Salute Our Mythology:

"Mom, I am a genetic scientist. I am working in the US on  the evolution of man. Theory of evolution. Charles Darwin, have you heard of him? " Vasu asked.

His Mother sat next to him,  smiled and said, "I know about Darwin, Vasu. But Have you heard of Dashavatar? The ten avatars of Vishnu?"

Vasu replied 'no'.

"Ok! Then let me tell you what
you and your Darwin don't know.

         Listen carefully-

The first avatar was the Matsya avatar, it means the fish. That is because life began in the water. Is that not right?"

Vasu began to listen with a little more attention.

She continued, "Then came the Kurma Avatar, which means the tortoise, because life moved from the water to the land. The amphibian! So the Tortoise denoted the evolution from sea to land.

Third avatar was Varaha, the wild boar, which meant the wild animals with not much intellect, you call them the Dinosaurs, correct?" Vasu nodded wide eyed.

"The fourth avatar was Narasimha, half man and half animal, the evolution from wild animals to intelligent beings.

Fifth, the Waman avatar, the midget or dwarf, who could grow really tall. Do you know why that is? Because, there were two kinds of humans, Homo Erectus and Homo Sapiens and Homo Sapiens won that battle."

Vasu could see that his Mother was in full flow and he was stupefied.

"The Sixth avatar was Parshuram, the man who wielded the axe, the man who was a cave and forest dweller. Angry, and not social.

The seventh avatar was Ram, the first rational thinking social being, who practised and laid out the laws of society and the basis of human relationships.

The Eighth avatar was Balarama, a true farmer who showed  value of agriculture in the life.

The Ninth avatar was Krishna, the statesman, the politician, the diplomat, the Ambassador, the sutile interpreter, the lover who played the game of society and taught how to live and thrive in the adhaarmic social structure.

And finally, my boy, will come Kalki, the man you are working on. The man who will be genetically supreme."

Vasu looked at his Mother speechless. "This is amazing Mom, how did you .... ? This makes sense!"

She said, "Yes it does Vasu! We Indians knew some amazing things, but just didn't know how to pass it on scientifically. So we made them into mythological stories.  Mythology creates faith and makes man sensible. It is just the way you look at it - Religious or Scientific. Your call."

Vasu touched the feet of his mother and hugged her.

♓ave a Nice Day⚛

cow has many specialities that no other animal

“🐄 Cow is just an animal like a hen or goat. Then why is it revered and why one should not kill and eat it?”

🐄 Cow is also an animal, but... a cow has many specialities that no other animal (not even human beings) has in this world.

This is the reason that Hindus consider cow as ‘mother’ after their own mother, and pray to the cow with respect calling it “Go-Matha”.

These are some truths about go-matha.🐄

·🐄 If a cow eats something poisonous by mistake, and we drink its milk, will we fall ill? To find out, one cow was regularly fed a particular quantity of a poison every day.

After 24 hours, its blood, urine, dung and milk were tested in a lab to check where the poison could be found. In this way, the tests were done not for 1 or 2 days, but continuously for 90 days in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi. The researcher did not find any trace of poison in milk, blood, urine or dung of that cow.🐄

Then where did this poison fed for 90 days go? Just like Lord Shiva held poison in his throat, the go-matha hid the entire poison in her throat. This is a special quality that no other animal has.🐄

·🐄 This is the only creature that inhales oxygen and also exhales oxygen.

·🐄 Cow milk has the quality of countering poison.

· There are diseases that medical science has not yet understood; urine of Go-matha has the power to cure them.🐄

·🐄 If cow-ghee and rice are cooked together, two powerful gases called ethylene-oxide, propylene-oxide are released. Propylene-oxide is the best gas used for creating artificial rain.

·🐄  Cow-urine is the world’s best killer of microbes

· 🐄With medicines made using cow dung and cow urine, stomach-related ailments can be cured.

·🐄 We can save ourselves from radio-waves by plastering the home floors and area outside home with cow-dung.

·🐄 Cow-dung has the power to destroy the microbes causing cholera.

· If 10 grams of cow-ghee is put in fire (yagnya), 1 ton of oxygen is generated. 🐄

2017 Purnima Days - sai saranam

2017 Purnima  Days

Purnima Full Moon

Purnima fasting might be observed either on Purnima day or on one day before Purnima day i.e. on Chaturdashi day depending on starting time of Purnima Tithi on previous day.

Purnima fasting on Chaturdashi occurs only when Purnima starts during Madhyahna period on previous day. It is believed that if Chaturdashi prevails beyond Madhyahna then it pollutes Purnima Tithi and this Chaturdashi day should not be considered for Purnima fasting even if Purnima prevails during evening.

25th October 2017 (Wednesday)-Soorasamharam

25th October 2017 (Wednesday)-Soorasamharam
