A man once asked Guru Nanak: why am I so poor....?
Guru Nanak smiled and said "you are poor because you have not learnt to give..."
The man replied, "but Guruji, what can I give? I am a poor man, a beggar, I have nothing to give
Guru Nanak said: "You have a pleasant face, you can smile and make someone feel happy; you have a nice voice, you can sing in praise of someone, or say two words to soothe or comfort someone who is upset; you have two hands which you can use to help or support someone who is in need of help & support.
How can you say that you have nothing to give!!
The poverty of your spirit is your actual poverty!!
Those who know how to give are the ones who also have the right to receive
